Get to know the faces behind Saracens. Our coaches bring years of expertise and passion to the court. Meet the individuals who shape our team's success, and get a closer look at their basketball journeys.

Andy Cummins

CO-Founder Of Saracens, Academy & U18s Head Coach
Andy learnt his trade under the tutelage of Paul Christensen at Gloucester Jets. Currently a sports lecturer and Academy lead at Truro and Penwith College. After moving down to Cornwall he completed his level 3 basketball coaching qualification and is currently a sports lecturer and Academy lead at Truro and Penwith College. Andy started Saracens alongside Mark with the aim to provide opportunities for youngsters in Cornwall to play this great game.

Mark Holmes

Co-founder of saracens,
Penryn College Coach
Mark grew up playing basketball in Bristol and later University of Birmingham and has been coaching youth basketball for around 25 years, at all levels from school to National League. Mark's helped set up the original Penryn Saracens in around 2012, which later became Cornwall Saracens. His favourite basketball team of all time are the 96 Bulls, and favourite player in the GOAT Michael Jordan.

Richard Gilling

Co-Director & U16s Head coach
Richard started playing basketball locally with Cornwall Cougars, Plymouth Raiders and the Truro College Basketball Academy before moving to London to study at London South Bank University where he played for three years. Richard then developed his passion for coaching as he worked as a sports ambassador, and was able to learn from the likes of John Amaechi, Steve Bucknall, Jimmy Rogers, Isaac Omirin, Tony Lazare and Andrew Powlesland. He is the current U16s head coach and assists with the U18s NBL and Truro College Basketball academy programme. 

GEza Petrucsik

U14s Regional Coach
Geza developed a passion for basketball at a young age in Hungary. At 17, he signed a semi-pro contract, playing in Hungary, Spain, Gibraltar, Birmingham, and London. Now in Cornwall, he mentors young players and shares his love for the sport. Gezas favourite players are Michael Jordan, Kevin Garnett and Luka Doncic, although it is two of his previous coaches growing up in Hungary that have had the greatest influence on his basketball journey.

Stef Rodrigues

U16s Coach
Stef's passion for basketball started whilst growing up in Spain. With it being one of their successful national sports, it is played everywhere. He has played at amateur level for a variety of teams in the Spanish leagues. The player that inspired him most, is Vlade Divac. The talented and successful Serbian international, who went on to play in the NBA. Stef's coaching ambition, is to help nurture players' existing love for the game, and bring as much passion to them, as he has experienced while playing the sport.

Mike Vanes

Sport Psychologist
Mike will be working closely with the club and individual players in developing sport psychology strategies, techniques and assessment methods to help support players with mental skills training.

Atis Amaglo

Support Staff
Atis is currently head of S&C at Cornish Pirates. He previously worked with Exeter Chiefs Rugby Academy, Truro College, and King’s Bruton school in Somerset. He is also running his own business, Cornwall Athletic Development.

Steve Hillman

U12s Coach & SEND Lead
Steve works for Healthy Cornwall and will be working with the U12s team as well as advising and supporting the club our SEND objectives to ensure we are creating an inclusive environment for all participants.

Adrian Ryall

U12s Coach
Adrian started playing basketball at the age of 12 in 1991, and has over 32 years of playing experience, representing various teams at different levels. Adrian is a Level 2 qualified and licensed Basketball England Coach and Player with a passion for developing players. His  favourite team is the Indiana Pacers, and his favourite player is Reggie Miller.
